This demonstration showed the multiple uses of Boardmaker Plus V.6. This program can be used as picture symbol toolin the same way Boardmaker V.5 is used, however can also be used to create interactive personalized activities that the child can play either on the computer or printed out as a worksheet. These interactive activities can be used to supplment a lesson or just as choice time activties because they are fun! It also offters a program called Symbolate which is similar to writing with pictures. Students/Teachers are able to work on literacy skills, as it provides symbols when you write a word. This program also allows you to easily import pictures and video from the internet.
How does it or does not relate to the future for the AHRC Education Department?
I feel that it will allow more students to use the computer to learn (many will feel comfortable with it as they are used to seeing the boardmaker pics) and it will provide teachers a fun,easy way to work on literacy, math, spelling, science, social studies, etc!
